A Play of One’s Own
starring Laura Korach Howell
In this stirring one-woman show, audiences will meet Virginia Woolf, the celebrated British author famous for her eleven groundbreaking novels, her membership in the bohemian Bloomsbury circle, her various loves and lovers, her strong feminist stance and her struggles with mental illness. Discover the woman who inspired generations with her outspoken feminist views in the essay “A Room of One’s Own” (1929), and who continues to amaze and delight readers today. Theatergoers will encounter a woman who, beset by her own personal demons, struggled each day to live a meaningful live — to make sense of her world and bring beauty to it. In the end, this was her triumph.
Laura Korach Howell originated the role of Virginia Woolf in 1982 and last performed “A Play of One’s Own” in 1992 at CoMotion Theatre in Lancaster, PA.
